Less than a year after making its global debut in Thailand, the Toyota Vios Hybrid is now headed to Malaysia, as UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has opened bookings for the new electrified B-segment sedan. Said model was spotted in Malaysia back in November.
Prices start from RM 103,900 for the regular HEV variant, while the GR Sport variant is RM 6,000 more, coming in at RM 109,900. Both prices are on-the-road (OTR), without insurance.

For the Malaysian market, UMWT has yet to reveal the power figures for our car, but the Thai-spec Vios HEV gets a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder petrol engine that does 91 PS and 121 Nm, hooked up to an electric motor that does 80 PS and 141 Nm. Drive is routed to the front wheels via an E-CVT automatic transmission.

While the Thai-spec car returns 3.4 L/100 km (29.4 km/L), UMWT’s leaflet mentions that our Malaysia-spec car does 3.6 L/100 km (27.77 km/L) – matching the Honda City e:HEV.

Equipment wise, the Vios HEV gets a new 10.1-inch floating style infotainment display replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, upgraded cabin ambient lighting, HEV-exclusive front grille, and Vehicle Approach Notice. There’s also a dedicated EV mode and the lithium-ion battery pack is located under the rear passenger seats, which does not compromise boot space.

As for the Vios HEV GR Sport, this sportier variant can be visually identified by its new GR Sport grille and sportier aerokit (full aerodynamic package from front to rear), 17-inch GR Sport alloy wheels, GR Sport-specific suspension tuning, and GR Sport combination leather and suede seats.
Colour options are as follows:
- Platinum White Pearl: HEV & GR Sport
- Attitude Black: HEV & GR Sport
- Spicy Scarlet SE: HEV & GR Sport
- Silver Metallic: HEV
- Celestite Grey Metallic: HEV
- Dual-tone Spicy Scarlet SE: GR Sport
- Dual-tone Platinum White Pearl: GR Sport
The Toyota Vios Hybrid is backed by 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, while the hybrid battery gets an 8-year unlimited mileage warranty that covers the hybrid battery, inverter, and power management control ECU.
