UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has quietly launched the new 2026 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid in Malaysia. This new hybrid variant is positioned as the flagship Toyota MPV.
Priced at RM 549,900 (on-the-road, without insurance), the 2026 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid carries with it an additional RM 100,000 premium compared to the Vellfire 2.5.
Versus the regular Vellfire, the Vellfire Hybrid features a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, comprising of a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre petrol engine that outputs 187 PS and 233 Nm, mated to an electric motor. Combined system output is 250 PS.
Said hybrid system also features a 5-Ah nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack that’s located under the front seats, and thus does not compromise rear boot space.
Power figures aside, what’s impressive is the fuel consumption figures. The Vellfire Hybrid returns 5.7 L/100 km, almost half of what the regular Vellfire 2.5 does (9.1 L/100 km).
Separating the HEV variant from the regular variant is the Executive Lounge seats, as well as hybrid-exclusive interior colour. In this case, the Vellfire Hybrid gets Sunset Brown as the interior colour. The HEV variant also adds Hybrid emblems on the exterior.
The rest of the Toyota Vellfire 2.5’s equipment appears to be identical to the regular Vellfire, including the tri-LED headlights with cornering lights, sequential turn signals, 19-inch alloy wheels, memory seats, 15-speaker JBL sound system, automatic quad-zone air-conditioning with Nanoe X, and 14-inch infotainment display with Wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.
In terms of aftersales support, the 2026 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid is backed by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, as well as an 8-year unlimited mileage hybrid warranty that covers the hybrid battery, inverter, and power management control ECU.
