Proton eMas 5 records 3,026 deliveries in January 2026, best-ever monthly performance for Pro-Net

Pro-Net, a subsidiary of national carmaker Proton, has delivered 3,026 units of the Proton eMas 5 in January 2026, marking the highest single-month delivery volume ever recorded by the company for a single model.

The milestone further strengthens the Proton eMas brand’s foothold in Malaysia’s growing EV market. In 2025, Proton eMas recorded 9,549 units sold, accounting for roughly six percent of Proton’s total annual sales and thus capturing 22 percent of Malaysia’s EV market share.

Launched on 30-October 2025, the Proton eMas 5 entered the market as Malaysia’s first affordable EV, positioned to make electric mobility accessible to everyday Malaysians. Its debut was preceded by a high-profile public showcase at the ASEAN Summit, signalling strong national and regional confidence in Proton’s electrification strategy.

Demand for the eMas 5 surged almost immediately after launch, reflecting a clear shift in Malaysian consumers’ readiness to adopt EV ownership.

The strong response from the public has prompted Proton to maintain the RM 3,000 launch rebate, as it continues to ramp up deliveries while expanding Malaysia’s EV ecosystem.

Practical EV ownership for everyday Malaysians

Beyond its accessible pricing, the Proton eMas 5 is positioned as a practical EV for daily use. It offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 325 km, paired with up to 71 kW of fast DC charging.

Key features include a 14.6-inch FHD infotainment display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, bilingual (English and Malay) voice commands, the Proton eMas app, and an integrated live charging map. Inside, the e.MAS 5 offers C-segment-level cabin space, a 375-litre boot, a 70-litre frunk, and multiple storage solutions aimed at urban families.

Ahead of its official launch, the eMas 5 was showcased nationwide through the MISI 5 roadshow, covering 42 locations across 13 states. The tour allowed Malaysians to experience the vehicle firsthand while giving Pro-Net valuable insight into key buyer groups, particularly first-time EV owners and families seeking accessible electrified mobility.

Pro-Net expands its electrified line-up

The eMas 7 PHEV offers a combined driving range of up to 1,065 km (NEDC) on a single tank and charge. The system integrates a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle engine, an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), and a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering fuel consumption of just 4.3 L/100 km, comparable to an A-segment car.

Operating on an EV-first philosophy, the eMas 7 PHEV drives like a fully electric vehicle for up to 80 percent of the time, with the petrol engine engaging seamlessly when additional power or efficiency is required.
