Back in May 2025, Geely introduced an updated version of the Geely Galaxy 5 (Proton eMas 7 to you and me), fitting a larger 68.39-kWh battery pack.
Now, the folks over at Drive have reported that Australia will soon be getting the Geely EX5 (our eMas 7) with the larger battery pack.
According to Drive, the larger 68.39-kWh battery pack could offer a range of up to 486 km under the WLTP test cycle – marking a 13% improvement over the current 60.22-kWh battery pack.
The rest of the updated Geely EX5, according to them, appears to be identical to the current Geely EX5, down to the equipment on offer.
Closer to home, our Proton eMas 7 is fitted with two batteries: 49.52-kWh on the Prime and 60.22-kWh on the Premium. It remains to be seen if and when this larger battery option would find its way here. If it does, it would allow Proton to one-up the competition, as rivals like the Leapmotor B10 offer a larger 67.1-kWh battery, while the MG S5 EV offers a 62-kWh unit.
At the time of writing, Proton has introduced the locally-assembled (CKD) version of the eMas 7, priced slightly cheaper than its CBU counterpart whilst offering more equipment. The Proton eMas 7 is locally-assembled at Proton’s new EV plant in Tanjong Malim and exported to countries like Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago, and Nepal.
