Mazda’s Kodo design may be a bit old, having debuted in 2012 with the GJ-generation Mazda 6.

That said, over the course 24 years, Mazda updated and refined its signature Kodo design language, keeping it fresh and sporty even against much newer rivals.

Now, the third-generation Mazda CX-5 adopts the latest iteration of the Kodo design language, one that looks vastly different from its sibling, the Mazda 3.

Rendering whizz Theottle recently adopted the KI-generation Mazda CX-5’s design elements onto a (donor) Alfa Romeo Giulia, creating what he calls as the next-generation Mazda 3.

Surprising as it may sound, but the design elements of the KI-generation Mazda CX-5 work really well on the imagined Mazda 3, creating a muscular yet ready-to-pounce C-segment sedan. Squint real hard and you may even notice design hints of the Mazda EZ-6.

Launched back in 2019, the BP-generation Mazda 3 is ripe for a successor model. While Mazda has yet to reveal any details surrounding its popular C-segment saloon, this render could “unofficially” preview what could be the company’s follow up to the current generation model.
