More than a month after registration of interest (RoI) was opened, Denza Malaysia has officially launched the new 2026 Denza B8 in the country.
This marks Denza Malaysia’s second model after the Denza D9 to be offered here.
Overview
The 2026 Denza B8 marks a departure from their EV-only product strategy, as the Denza B8 offered here is fitted with a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
Similar to the Denza D9, two variants of the 2026 Denza B8 will be offered here:
- 2026 Denza B8 Dynamic (7-seater): RM 458,800
- 2026 Denza B8 Premium (6-seater): RM 518,800
Both prices are the selling price without road tax, registration fees, ownership fees, number plate, CBU handling fees, and insurance.
Like the Denza D9, the 2026 Denza B8 is imported (CBU) from China.
Furthermore, the 2026 Denza B8 features a ladder frame construction, similar to the GWM Tank 500.
Exterior
The 2026 Denza B8 is another Chinese SUV that embraces the bold and boxy design language – one that was popularized by models such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Suzuki Jimny, and brands like iCaur and Jetour have embraced with their respective models.
Up front there’s a pair of projector LED headlights, with a C-shape LED DRL encapsulating the tri-LED units. Beneath that is a block front bumper with silver trim pieces, while the rear gets a tailgate-mounted spare tyre.
Colour options include Alpine White, Dawn Gold, Eclipse Black, Emerald Green, and Nebula Silver, paired to two interior colour options: Jasper Brown and Onyx Black.
Interior
The rugged theme continues inside – there’s a bunch of silver rugged trim pieces scattered throughout the cabin, including on the door cards and dashboard.
In terms of amenities, the driver gets a large 12.3-inch digital display, supplemented by a head-up display (HUD) and an equally large 17.3-inch infotainment display. Said infotainment system pumps audio through a Devialet 18-speaker sound system.
Powertrain
Powering the Malaysian-spec 2026 Denza B8 is BYD’s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid system that combines a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine to a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and two electric motors for a combined system output of, wait for it, 748 PS and 760 Nm of torque.
These figures enable the 2026 Denza B8 to complete the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds.
Power for the electric motors come from a BYD Blade LFP battery pack with a capacity of 36.8 kWh. The B8 accepts up to 120 kW of DC fast charging, which can recharge from 30% to 80% in about 16 minutes.
Being a PHEV, the 2026 Denza B8 can also travel on electric power alone, in this case, up to 125 km under the CLTC test cycle.
As for the fuel tank, the B8 gets a large 91.5-litre fuel tank, which allows for a total range of up to 1,200 km.
