New 2026 Xpeng X9 launched in Malaysia, from RM 279,888

Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bermaz Auto Berhad and the official distributor of Xpeng vehicles in Malaysia has just launched the updated 2026 Xpeng X9 in the country.

Overview

The 2026 Xpeng X9 will be offered in three variants:

  • 2026 Xpeng X9 FWD Standard Range: RM 279,888
  • 2026 Xpeng X9 FWD Long Range: RM 297,888
  • 2026 Xpeng X9 AWD Performance:  RM 333,888

At the time of writing, the 2026 Xpeng X9 is imported (CBU) from China, but plans are underway to locally-assemble (CKD) the model at the EPMB facility in Melaka, just like its G6 stablemate.

Exterior

Visually, you’d be hard pressed to notice any significant changes to the exterior – the “Robot Face” front fascia is largely unchanged, but Xpeng is keen to point out that there’s now an active shutter located at the lower half of the bumper that improve aerodynamics.

Another update to the X9 is the fitment of soft-closing front doors, which puts the X9 firmly toe-to-toe with rivals like the Denza D9.

In-line with the earlier update, the 2026 Xpeng X9 also receives self-centering centre caps.

Colour options have been revised as well – Lambent Cyan and Polar Violet are new, joining Arctic White, Matte Grey, and Midnight Black. Note that Polar Violet is exclusive to the AWD Performance variant.

Interior

Changes are more apparent as you step into the cabin – there’s now a new two-spoke steering wheel that relocates the Xpeng logo to the centre, as well as the addition of two buttons around the steering wheel boss.

Also updated is the speaker count – the X-Opera sound system now features 27 speakers, up from the pre-updated model’s 23 speakers.

Xpeng has also reworked the seats of the X9. The second-row captain seats of the FWD variants now feature 40:60 split-folding capability, while the third-row seats now add heating capabilities – useful when the weather gets cold or when children get wet.

Unchanged is the infotainment and digital driver display stack – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 continues to serve here, powering the 10.25-inch digital driver display and massive 17.3-inch infotainment display.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is present and the cabin offers no less than 5 USB-C ports, one USB-A port, as well as dual 12-volt sockets.

Interior colour options include:

  • Coffee: FWD Long Range & AWD Performance
  • Meteorite Black: FWD Standard Range & FWD Long Range
  • Rose Brown: AWD Performance in Polar Violet only

Powertrain

Starting with the base FWD Standard Range variant, it gets a 94.8-kWh LFP battery pack that offers up to 535 of WLTP range. The FWD Long Range and AWD Performance variants both get a large 110-kWh NCM battery pack, with the former offer 615 km while the latter offers 580 km, both under the same WLTP cycle.

Thanks to its advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the 2026 Xpeng X9 is able to DC fast charge up to 537 kW for the LFP-equipped variant; NCM-equipped variants are able to DC fast charge up to 542 kW. As such, charging from 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC), regardless of variants, takes only 12 minutes.

In terms of power output and performance figures, the 2026 Xpeng X9 does:

  • Xpeng X9 FWD Standard Range: 235 kW (320 PS), 450 Nm, 8.2 seconds
  • Xpeng X9 FWD Long Range: 235 kW (320 PS), 450 Nm, 7.75 seconds
  • Xpeng X9 AWD Performance: 370 kW (503 PS), 640 Nm, 5.9 seconds
