Chery’s product offensive in Malaysia isn’t slowing down one bit. The Wuhu-based company has been represented here under the Chery marque since 2023, and its sub-brands — Jaecoo and Jetour — have also found a growing audience.
Meet iCaur: Chery’s new EV brand
Next up is iCaur. In its domestic Chinese market, the brand retains the original iCar nameplate, but export markets will see an added “u” in the name. That said, the company emphasizes that the “u” is silent — so it’s still pronounced iCar.
According to iCaur Malaysia’s official Facebook page, the brand has teased the arrival of not one, but two models set to debut at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow (2025 MAS): the iCaur V23 and iCaur 03.
What is the iCaur V23?

The iCaur V23 is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) co-developed by Chery and Smartmi Tech, a subsidiary of Xiaomi. Built on the Chery i-MS architecture, the V23 is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations in China.
Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD):
- Motor: Rear-mounted electric motor, 100 kW (136 PS), 180 Nm
- Battery Options:
- 59.92-kWh CATL LFP – 401 km (CLTC-rated)
- 81.76-kWh CATL NMC – 550 km (CLTC-rated)
All-Wheel Drive (AWD):
- Motors: Additional front-mounted electric motor, 55 kW (75 PS), 112 Nm
- Combined Output: 155 kW (211 PS), 292 Nm
- Battery: 81.76-kWh NMC – 501 km (CLTC-rated)
Charging from 30% to 80% SoC using DC fast charging takes approximately 30 minutes. The battery supplier is CATL.
The iCaur V23 measures 4,220 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, with a height of 1,845 mm. Its wheelbase is 2,735 mm. For context, that would mean that the V23 is shorter in length than the Chery Omoda 5 (4,400 mm x 1,830 mm x 1,588 mm), but much wider and taller.

What sets the iCaur V23 apart from its competitors is the customization options. From what we observed in China, iCaur offers a range of accessories for the V23, including a variety of wheels, different coloured grilles, even different instrument clusters (the iCaur V23 we saw in China does not come with an instrument cluster).
In China, prices of the iCaur V23 start from CNY 109,800 (~RM 65,000) and tops out at CNY 149,800 (~RM89,000).

What about the iCaur 03?

second model teased by iCaur Malaysia is the iCaur 03. Like the V23, it also rides on the i-MS platform and is offered in both RWD and AWD formats.
Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD):
- Motor: Rear-mounted electric motor, 135 kW (186 PS), 220 Nm
- Battery Options:
- 50.63-kWh LFP (CATL) – 401 km (CLTC)
- 65.69-kWh LFP – 501 km (CLTC)
All-Wheel Drive (AWD):
- Motor: Additional front-mounted electric motor, 70 kW (95 PS), 165 Nm
- Combined Output: 205 kW (279 PS), 385 Nm
Like the V23, DC fast charging the iCaur 03 from 30% to 80% takes around 30 minutes.
The iCaur 03 is actually a tad bit larger than the V23, with a length of 4,406 mm, 1,910 mm width and 1,715 mm height. That said, wheelbase is 20 mm shorter at 2,715 mm.

Prices of the iCaur 03 in China start from CNY 109,800 (~RM 65,000), before topping out at CNY 169,800 (~RM 100,000) for the top-spec variant. Speaking of variants, iCaur offers no less than 13 variants of the 03 in China.
In Singapore, the iCaur 03 is currently on sale as the Jaecoo J6 and gets a different 69.77-kWh LFP battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated range of 470 km (city).

When will the models launch in Malaysia?
According to iCaur Malaysia’s Facebook post, the brand will officially debut at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow (2025 MAS), where it will preview these upcoming models. The event runs from 9–15 May 2025.
