
Honda Malaysia has just announced a product recall involving its fuel pump. A total of 87,490 Honda vehicles are affected.
Honda Malaysia fuel pump recall – Fuel pump impeller
In cases where the fuel pump has been immersed in fuel for prolong periods of time, the fuel pump impeller may swell and potentially preventing the vehicle from starting, or even causing the engine to stall whilst driving.

A total of 84,073 units of the Honda Jazz, Honda City, Honda Accord, Honda BR-V, Honda HR-V, Honda CR-V, and Honda Odyssey are involved. Details of affected vehicles are listed below:

Honda Malaysia fuel pump recall – High-pressure fuel pump
As for the second item, the high-pressure fuel pump in the Honda Civic and Honda CR-V may crack due to prolonged use and excessive stress, which could potentially lead to a fuel leak or fuel odor while driving or idling.
A total of 3,417 units of the Civic and CR-V are affected. Details are below:

Honda Malaysia fuel pump recall – What can customers do?
Honda Malaysia apologizes for the inconveniences caused and reassures customers that all current production and selling Honda models are not affected in this product recall. Owners can also check on productrecall.honda.com.my to check if their vehicle is affected.

Said recall also extends to models where the warranty period has lapsed.
All customers affected by this will be informed via letters, which will include the details of the product recall. Alternatively, customers can also check via the HondaTouch app.

The replacement of the affected fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pump is free of charge and all cost related to this replacement activity will be borne by Honda Malaysia. The replacement stock will be available in stages.
As of time of writing, there are no reported incidences of crashes or injuries caused by these issues in Malaysia.
