BMW Malaysia has launched the all-new G45 2025 BMW X3 at the ongoing BMW My World 2025 showcase. BMW Malaysia also launched several other models at the showcase, including the F74 BMW 218 Gran Coupe and G90 BMW M5.
Now in its fourth generation, the G45 X3 takes over the mantle from the G01 X3 that was launched here back in 2018.

Similar to the predecessor model, the G45 X3 is locally assembled (CKD) at BMW’s plant in Kulim, Kedah. With an estimated price from RM 349k, the sole xDrive20 M Sport variant is now a mild-hybrid (MHEV) vehicle.

What powertrain does the G45 2025 BMW X3 get?
At the heart of the G45 2025 BMW X3 xDrive20 is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that’s hooked up to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, allowing for a combined system output of 190 PS and 310 Nm, mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
As the name suggests, the X3 xDrive20 is an all-wheel drive model. The century sprint is completed in just 8.5 seconds and offers a top speed of 215 km/h. BMW is also keen to point out that the G45-generation X3 benefits from a wider rear track (+45 mm), reengineered stabiliser mountings, and stiffer axle bearings.

For comparison, the Volvo XC60, in its B5 trim, produces 249 PS and 350 Nm. Alternatively, there’s also the Mercedes-Benz GLC350e. Unlike the other two, the GLC350e is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the combined system output is 313 PS and 550 Nm – the highest of this trio.

Design-wise, the G45 X3 gets a Pearl Chrome double-element kidney grille, surrounded by a pair of adaptive LED headlights with L-shaped LED daytime running lights. There’s also a taller bonnet, raised window line, and revised Hofmeister kink that give the G45 X3 its unmistakable, yet refreshed looks.

The interior of the G45-generation BMW X3 features the BMW Curved Display, which combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, and an even larger 14.9-inch infotainment display. Like the recently-launched 2 Series Gran Coupe, the system runs on the BMW Operating System 9.

Other niceties in the interior include a head-up display (HUD), flat-bottom M leather-wrapped steering wheel, BMW Interaction Bar with touch-sensitive controls and a 15-colour ambient lighting system.
Perforated Veganza upholstery finished in Black or Espresso Brown, tri-zone automatic air-conditioning, and a 15W wireless charging pad complete the interior of the Malaysian-spec G45 X3.

Safety and driver assistance features include the full Driving Assistant Plus suite, which adds Lane Change Warning, Rear Crossing Traffic Alert, Exit Warning, Front Collision Warning with Brake Assist, Evasion Assistant, and Speed Limit Display with pre-warning.
Also included is Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, plus Steering and Lane Control Assistant for added ease in stop-and-go traffic. There’s also Parking Assistant Plus that offers a 360-degree view camera, Reversing Assistant, Park Assist, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive Recorder, and Anti-Theft Recorder.

In Malaysia, the new BMW X3 20 xDrive M Sport is offered in four exterior colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Dune Grey, and Tanzanite Blue. Interior upholstery is available in either Black or Espresso Brown Veganza Perforated, regardless of exterior colour.
