For the Malaysian market, two variants are available, both priced RM 8,000 lower than before:

  • BYD Seal Premium – RM 171,800
  • BYD Seal Performance – RM 191,800

The first 300 buyers will enjoy a launch package worth RM 10,888, which includes a free wall charger, service package, and a special rebate.

What’s new on the 2025 BYD Seal?

Firstly are the redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels. The redesigned wheels now feature a Y-spoke design with dual-tone finishing – a vast difference from the shuriken-like design of the pre-updated model.

As before, the wheels measure 19 inches and are wrapped in 235/45R19 tyres all-round. The more potent Performance variant can now be identified by its red-painted brake calipers up front.

Continuing on the handling aspect, the improved 2025 BYD Seal, in its Performance guise, now gets the DiSus-C continuous damping control system – similar to the system found in the Denza D9 EV MPV.

The entry-level Premium variant now gets Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorbers, an upgrade over the passive suspension from before.

Then there’s the BYD Seal’s frunk – BYD has managed to increase the volume from 50 litres to 53 litres.

Inside the cabin, there’s also a new powered sunshade for the panoramic sunroof as well as a sunglasses holder.

In addition to the NFC key card, owners can also now use their mobile phone’s Bluetooth as a remote.

As before, four body colours are offered on the 2025 BYD Seal: Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black. The fourth is a new colour called Shark Grey, which replaces Arctic Blue.

What about the powertrain?

Powertrain options remained unchanged:

  • BYD Seal Premium: Rear-mounted motor, 230 kW (313 PS), 360 Nm, 5.9 seconds
  • BYD Seal Performance: Dual motors, 390 kW (530 PS), 670 Nm, 3.8 seconds

Regardless of variant, the BYD Seal is juiced by the same 82.5-kWh LFP Blade battery, which provides an WLTP range of 570 km for the Premium and 520 km for the Performance variant.

AC charging takes 15.2 hours to recharge the Seal from 0% to 100% SoC.

How’s the warranty coverage?

Warranty remains unchanged:

  • Six-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty
  • Eight-year/160,000-km battery warranty
  • Eight-year/160,000-km drive unit warranty
