Volvo Car Malaysia has officially launched the 2026 Volvo EC40 Single Motor. Previously known as the Volvo C40 Recharge, this new model is priced from RM 248,888 (on-the-road, without insurance), making it RM 40,000 cheaper than its dual-motor sibling.
Available in the Ultra variant, the EC40 Single Motor features a rear-mounted electric motor producing 175 kW (238 PS) and 420 Nm of torque. This setup allows the EV SUV to complete the 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.
Power comes from a 70-kWh (67-kWh usable) nickel cobalt manganese (NMC) battery, delivering up to 488 km of driving range under the WLTP test cycle.

The EC40 supports up to 200 kW of DC fast charging, enabling a 10–80% state-of-charge (SoC) recharge in just 26 minutes. AC charging is rated at 11 kW, taking 7 hours to fully charge the EC40.
The 2026 Volvo EC40 Single Motor introduces a new colour option, Sand Dune, first seen on the flagship EX90 SUV. Other available colours include Aurora Silver, Crystal White, and Onyx Black.

Inside, the 2026 Volvo EC40 Single Motor offers a leather-free interior with Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech. The interior décor design has also been updated with Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels for a sharper look.
There’s also a 9.0-inch infotainment display that features Google built-in functionality, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 13-speaker, 600W Harman Kardon sound system, 360-degree camera, and auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
