
Proton’s second electric vehicle (EV) offering, the 2025 Proton eMas 5, is now opened for bookings. This was first announced on Pro-Net’s social media accounts earlier last week.
The 2025 Proton eMas 5 has an estimated price of RM 60,000 to RM 80,000 thus earning its position as Malaysia’s most affordable EV. Malaysians can now book the Proton eMas 5 for just RM 99 and receive a limited-edition Proton eMas Touch ‘n Go card preloaded with RM 100 along with an additional RM 500 rebate on the booking fee. This offer is valid for the first 5,000 customers who book the eMas 5.

What is the Proton eMas 5?

The 2025 Proton eMas 5 is essentially a rebadged version of the Geely Xingyuan, itself China’s best-selling EV in 1H 2025, with over 198,000 units sold.
As the name suggests, the 2025 Proton eMas 5 is positioned as the little sibling to the larger Proton eMas 7, being a more attainable option for the masses. Similar to the eMas 7, two variants of the eMas 5 will be offered: Prime and Premium.

How powerful is the 2025 Proton eMas 5?

Power for the Proton eMas 5 Premium variant comes from a CATL-sourced 40.16-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a range of up to 325 km under the WLTP test cycle. The Prime variant gets a smaller CATL-sourced 30.12-kWh LFP battery pack, with an estimated range of about 225 km under the same WLTP test cycle.

Pro-Net says that DC fast charging at 71 kW from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) takes just 21 minutes, while AC charging tops out at 6.6 kW.
The 2025 Proton eMas 5 features a rear-mounted electric motor that outputs 85 kW (116 PS) and 150 Nm, enabling a 0-50 km/h sprint time of just 3.9 seconds. Top speed of the Prime variant is rated at 125 km/h, while the Premium’s top speed is rated at 135 km/h.
What is the size of the 2025 Proton eMas 5?



Pro-Net lists the Proton eMas 5 at a 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm tall, and 1,580 mm wide, with a 2,650 mm long wheelbase. Ground clearance is rated at 160 mm.


There is also a 70-litre frunk and the boot space is rated at 375 litres, which can be expanded to 1,320 litres with the rear seats folded down.
