WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of GAC vehicles in Malaysia, has just launched the new 2026 GAC M8 PHEV MPV in the country.
Two variants will be offered here, namely:
- 2026 GAC M8 PHEV Premium: RM 328,800
- 2026 GAC M8 PHEV Luxury: RM 388,800
Overview
The 2026 GAC M8 PHEV is GAC’s fourth model here, after the GS3 Emzoon, Emkoo, and Aion Y Plus.

The GAC M8 PHEV enters a brand-new segment that will soon be joined by the 2026 GWM Wey G9, also a PHEV MPV.
Both variants of the 2026 GAC M8 PHEV feature a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and an electric motor. Combined system output, according to GAC, is 372 PS and 630 Nm of torque.
When combined with its 25.57-kWh battery pack and 56-litre fuel tank, the 2026 GAC M8 PHEV is able to return up to 1,038 km (test cycle unspecified).
The GAC M8 PHEV accepts up to 40 kW of DC fast charging, and 6.6 kW of AC charging. There’s also a V2L function that goes up to 3.3 kW.
Exterior
This new PHEV MPV measures 5,212 mm in length, 1,893 mm in width, and is 1,823 mm tall, with a 3,070 mm wheelbase.
The 2026 GAC M8 PHEV has what GAC calls “Lion-like” front fascia with signature “Awakening Eye” LED headlights. The sharp LED headlights flank a trapezoid chrome front grille, with a matter silver trim piece with the MASTER inscription completes the front fascia.
Towards the rear of the 2026 GAC M8 PHEV, there’s a single-piece, full-width LED tail light, with a waterfall-shaped piece on each end. Angular design motifs first found on the Emzoom has also been carried over to the M8.
The luxurious touch continues to the 18-inch alloy wheels with self-centering wheel caps – a feature normally found on uber luxurious cars.
Two colours are available: Crystal White and Elegant Black.
Interior
The cabin of the 2026 GAC M8 PHEV gets leather upholstery, extended 480 mm second- and third-row sliding rails for best-in-class legroom, and an ultra-quiet interior enhanced by 108 sound insulation points and an Engine Noise Control (ENC) system.
GAC also pointed out the M8 PHEV’s draft-free air-conditioning system, powered by Cool-Sense Technology, is able to deliver gentle, wind-free cooling for an elevated sense of comfort.
Safety and Technology
The 2026 GAC M8 PHEV features the world’s first-ever rear windscreen airbag, as well as Level 2 ADAS and Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA).
There’s also Adaptive Vehicle Dynamics Control System and an Electromagnetic Damping System, ensuring comfort and stability across different road surfaces.
Being a hybrid, the GAC M8 PHEV offers three driving modes – Intelligent Hybrid, All-Electricity First, and Power Preservation.
