Proton ended November with 13,451 units sold across domestic and export markets, marking one of its strongest monthly performances of the year. The result lifts the company’s year-to-date (YTD) figure to 143,322 units, placing Proton 3.6 percent ahead of the same period in 2024. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the carmaker is positioned to close 2025 with positive annual growth.
Notably, Proton’s performance runs counter to Malaysia’s estimated Total Industry Volume (TIV), which is currently projected to contract by 0.9 percent year-on-year. Based on provisional industry data, Proton is expected to record an 18.4 percent market share for November and a 19.7 percent YTD share, retaining its position as the country’s second most popular automotive brand.

ICE models continue to lead their segments, eMas 7 holds EV top spot
The Proton Saga remained the brand’s core volume driver in November with 6,931 units, bringing its YTD total to 66,038 units. Despite being in a transition phase ahead of the all-new model, deliveries held steady as the new Tanjong Malim production line increases capacity. With bookings already surpassing 30,000 units, Proton expects the new Saga to play an even larger role in the 2026 sales charts.

The Proton X50 maintained its segment leadership with 2,127 units sold in November and 25,974 units YTD, marking a 23.5 percent year-on-year improvement. The Proton S70 also retained its lead in the C-segment sedan category with 1,487 units, pushing its YTD total to 15,828 units.
Other internal combustion engine (ICE) models contributed to the month’s results:
- Proton Persona: 1,050 units (YTD 14,214)
- Proton X70: 471 units (YTD 7,184)
- Proton X90: 234 units (YTD 2,357)
- Proton Iriz: 241 units (YTD 3,208)
November also saw strong traction for Proton’s electrified lineup following the launch of the eMas 5, Malaysia’s first affordable EV. The debut drew additional interest to the brand’s EV offerings, resulting in a 14.8 percent month-on-month increase for the e.MAS range. The Proton eMas 7 remained the country’s best-selling EV with 830 units sold in November and a YTD total of 7,784 units.

“The launches of the eMas 5 and all-new Saga place us in a strong position for the coming year. We also previewed our upcoming PHEV model at the Proton Tech Showcase to highlight our technological advancements. Combined with efforts throughout 2025, these initiatives have driven our sales improvement as we aim for a more substantial volume increase in 2026,” said Zhang Qiang, Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Exports up 37.3 percent, on track for 6,000 units in 2025
Exports continue to be a strategic pillar for Proton, with the company expanding its international footprint through the establishment of Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB) and the introduction of the eMas 7 in regional markets. The brand officially returned to Singapore in August.
Proton exported 460 units in November, bringing its YTD export total to 5,014 units, a 37.3 percent increase over 2024 and the company’s highest export volume since 2022. With one month left in the year, Proton is closing in on its 6,000-unit export target.
“Exports will remain one of Proton’s priority growth drivers. It is encouraging to see traction building across multiple overseas markets,” Zhang added. “We aim to expand into more countries and leverage our manufacturing capabilities in Tanjong Malim to strengthen the brand’s presence in both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive segments.”
