GWM Malaysia has announced that the recently-launched 2026 GWM Wey G9 has received over 800 bookings within the first week. It shows a strong demand for Malaysia’s first locally-assembled (CKD) luxury New Energy MPV.

The early response tells us Malaysians are ready to move into a new era of New Energy mobility.”

As a brief recap, the sole 2026 GWM Wey G9 variant in Malaysia is priced at RM 269,800 (on-the-road, without insurance). It is powered by a petrol-electric hybrid system, comprised of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 150 PS and 240 Nm and two electric motors. Combined system output is 325 kW (442 PS) and 642 Nm.
Powering the two electric motors is a 44.2-kWh ternary lithium battery pack. This battery pack supports DC fast charging up to 60 kW, which can charge the pack from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in 26 minutes. AC Charging peaks at 6.6 kW, recharging from 15% to 100% in 6.5 hours.
Combined, GWM Malaysia mentions that the Wey G9 can do up to a NEDC-rated range of 170 km in EV mode alone. Under the same test cycle, the GWM Wey G9 can return up to 1,000 km.
