Leapmotor C10 set to be upgraded in Malaysia with more power and range

The Leapmotor C10 is set to be upgraded in Malaysia, with the D-segment SUV teased to receive “More Power, More Range”, as seen in Leapmotor Malaysia’s Facebook post.

Now, Leapmotor Malaysia has dropped a teaser, which could be hinting at the recently-updated China-spec model.

China-spec Leapmotor C10

Over in the Middle Kingdom, the updated Leapmotor C10’s power output gets bumped up to 220 kW (299 PS) – marking a decent 50 kW (68 PS) increase over the outgoing model.

At the same time, the China-spec Leapmotor C10 gains a larger 74.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, a slight increase from the current C10’s 69.9-kWh unit. That brings the usable range to 495 km WLTP (605 km CLTC).

The increase in power helps to drop the 0-100 km/h sprint time from 7.5 seconds down to 5.9 seconds, while range has increased by roughly 70 km compared to the current model.

In China, the updated Leapmotor C10 also gains a new 800-volt electrical architecture, which slashes the 30% to 80% recharge time to just 16 minutes. A quick 10-minute charge can add 137 km of range, which is a much-needed upgrade for many.

That said, our Malaysian-spec Leapmotor C10, even at launch, offered less power than the China-market car (218 PS/160 kW & 320 Nm), and as such remains to be seen if our cars would match the China-spec cars in terms of power output.

The Leapmotor C10 is also set to be locally-assembled (CKD) by Stellantis at their Gurun facility. At the time of writing, the Leapmotor C10 is priced at RM 125,000 (on-the-road, without insurance).
