Ni Hao! We’re reporting live from the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, where Geely has quietly displayed the Geely Starship 7 EV at its booth.
Yes, you read that right – it’s the EV version of a PHEV of an EV. Confusing? Let us break it down for you.

First things first – the Geely Starship 7 EV carries over all the improvements of the eMas 7 PHEV offer over the regular eMas 7 EV, including its longer wheelbase, increased height, and wider body.
Furthermore, the Starship 7 EV gets the driver footwell repositioned forward. The Starship 7 EV’s wheelbase is also 5 mm long, and when coupled with its rear-seat R-point repositioned rearward, rear seat knee room has been expanded to 125 mm.

Then there’s the new battery – Geely’s on-ground staff mentioned that the Starship 7 EV (as well as Galaxy EX5) get an updated Geely Aegis Short Blade battery pack, part of the Shendun Golden Battery Family, which is said to exceed China’s requirements for battery safety. Capacity of said battery was not revealed.

Versus our eMas 7 PHEV and eMas 7 EV, the Starship 7 EV seen here features physical controls for the climate control, accessible via two toggle knobs on the centre console. We also spotted the now-familiar Flyme Audio sound system on the car.
Could this preview an updated Proton eMas 7?
At this point of time, it’s a bit too soon to say so, considering that the eMas 7 is still a very new model in Pro-Net’s line-up, thus ruling out an update so early.
Additionally, local-assembly (CKD) works of the eMas 7 just commenced, which could mean that this Starship 7 EV could be a China-only model, for now.
