New 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift launched in Malaysia: 2 variants, Ultra & Premium, from RM 125,800

Watch out eMas 7, as BYD Malaysia has just launched the new 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift in the country.

Overview

Not to be mistaken with the all-new model which we saw in China recently, this update is a facelift exercise for the current-generation BYD Atto 3, albeit with a very comprehensive overhaul.

For starters, the electric motor is now rear-mounted, and it produces way more power than before. There’s also a new 800-volt electrical architecture that unlocks a much higher DC fast charging rate. That said, these changes are exclusive to the more expensive Premium variant; the entry Ultra maintains its powertrain.

Additionally, the Premium variant also gains a more advanced suspension layout: up front there’s a pair of McPherson struts with dual ball joints paired to a rear five-link multi-link suspension.

Left: Premium, Right: Ultra

BYD Malaysia is offering two variants of the 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift, priced from RM 125,800 for the Ultra variant, while the Premium goes for RM 138,800. As before, the 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift is imported (CBU) from China.

Customers will also receive these complimentary accessories:

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter
  • Type 2 charging cable with 3-pin plug

Early bird promo includes:

  • Early Bird Overtrade worth RM 10,000 (First 500 customers only)
  • Choice of wall charger with standard installation or 6-year standard service package

Exterior

Up front, the new 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift gains a redesigned front bumper with a pair of simpler-looking bumper edge design.

Likewise for the rear – there’s a revamped tail light design with swirling motives that give the Atto 3 facelift a neater look. The rear bumper’s also new, with a simpler-looking design, reducing the fussiness of the pre-updated model.

The Atto 3 facelift gets a set of 18-inch wheels across the line-up, albeit with varying designs between the two variants.

Colour options include Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Harbour Grey, and Ski White.

Interior

Inside the cabin, the simplicity theme continues – BYD has reduced some of the funkiness of the Atto 3, giving the interior a bit more sombre look. Look closely and you’ll also notice that the gear shifter has been relocated as a column shifter, hiding behind the Atto 2/Seal 6-derived steering wheel.

While the 15.6-inch infotainment display may look similar to before, it loses one party – the display is now fixed. Recall that the earlier Atto 3’s display was rotatable. The tiny 5.0-inch digital driver display has also given way for a larger 8.8-inch unit.

Due to the difference in the rear suspension layout, boot space between the two variants differ: the Ultra offers a 1,340-litre boot, while the Premium bumps that figure up to 1,360 litres. Being a rear-wheel drive model, the Premium also adds a 101-litre frunk.

The Ultra variant remains FWD, and thus misses out on the frunk

Powertrain

As mentioned earlier, the updated 2026 BYD Atto 3 Premium’s electric motor is now rear-mounted, producing 230 kW (313 PS) and 380 Nm – making it one of the more powerful C-segment EV SUVs on sale today.

There’s also a larger 74.8-kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batter pack that unlocks a WLTP-rated range of up to 510 km.

Crucially, this update also brings with it an 800-volt electrical architecture that allows the 2026 BYD Atto 3 to DC fast charge up to 220 kW, reducing the 10% to 80% charging time to just 25 minutes.

Then there’s the entry Ultra variant that continues its front-wheel drive layout, producing 150 kW (204 PS) and 310 Nm. Power for the Ultra comes from a smaller 60.48-kWh Blade LFP battery pack. That said, DC fast charging has been upgraded to 110 kW.
