As the automotive landscape shifts rapidly toward electrification and advanced mobility solutions, MITI’s latest policy framework for Completely Built Up (CBU) electric vehicles plays a critical role. By encouraging deeper local industrial participation and securing high-value technology transfers from global automakers, the ministry is actively future-proofing Malaysia’s manufacturing ecosystem.

For the extensive network of vendors driving Mazda’s assembly and manufacturing operations in Malaysia, this state-level direction perfectly mirrors their ongoing mission to cultivate a world-class, competitive supply chain. Localization has long been a pillar of Mazda’s signature manufacturing philosophy—ensuring that every vehicle component embodies the local skill, pride, and progress of the Malaysian workforce.

A spokesperson for the Mazda Malaysia Vendors’ Association stated: “MITI’s direction provides a clear pathway for Malaysian vendors to grow alongside the nation’s transition into the EV era. We welcome policies that encourage foreign automakers to invest in local assembly, technology transfer, and meaningful industrial participation. These measures strengthen our capabilities, uplift our workforce, and ensure that Malaysian vendors remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.”

MMVA has reaffirmed its total commitment to supporting automakers, including Mazda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., that prioritize local sourcing and ecosystem development in tandem with national targets. The association also expressed its appreciation to MITI for maintaining transparent, ongoing dialogues with industry stakeholders to build a highly competitive and future-ready automotive segment.

As Malaysia accelerates its transition toward sustainable, electrified transport, MMVA stands fully equipped to contribute to an agile, innovative, and robust automotive ecosystem, anchored by shared progress and a collective pursuit of manufacturing excellence.
