At the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2025, Great Wall Motor Sales Malaysia (GWM Malaysia) has collected 150 bookings for the newly-launched 2025 GWM Tank 500 HEV.
That’s rather an impressive figure, considering that the GWM Tank 500 HEV retails for RM 328,800 – making it the most expensive Chinese vehicle (at the time of writing) that isn’t an electric vehicle (EV).
As a brief recap, the Malaysian-market GWM Tank 500 is imported (CBU) from GWM’s plant in Rayong, Thailand. The sole variant that’s offered here features a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, which combines a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 244 PS and 380 Nm, mated to an electric motor that does 106 PS and 268 Nm.

Combined system output, according to GWM, is 346 PS and 648 Nm. Power is delivered to all four wheels via GWM’s switchable four-wheel drive system. The sole transmission option is a nine-speed automatic.
Standard equipment on this RM 330k seven-seater SUV is generous, as it includes Nappa leather upholstery, 12-speaker Infinity sound system, dual front powered seats with ventilation, power-folding and power-unfolding third-row seats, as well as tri-zone air-conditioning with ionizer.
