Chery Malaysia has launched the 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross in Malaysia, after previewing the model at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow, followed by several showroom and public previews.
For the Malaysian market, Chery will be offering two variants of the Tiggo Cross: one with a turbocharged engine, and the other with a petrol-electric hybrid system. Prices start from RM 88,800 for the turbo, while the hybrid goes for RM 99,800. Both prices are on-the-road, without insurance.

The 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross aims straight at similarly priced rivals like the Perodua Ativa and Honda WR-V, but measures marginally larger than the two.
Dimensions of the Tiggo Cross actually come closer to the Proton X50, as seen in the table below:

Despite entering a saturated market, what sets the Chery Tiggo Cross apart from its core rivals are its powertrain options.

The first powertrain is a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 147 PS and 210 Nm, hooked up to a 6-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission, sending drive to the front wheels. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 10.3 seconds.

As for the second powertrain, it’s part of the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) family of petrol-electric hybrid systems, which features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine that outputs 102 PS and 125 Nm.
Said engine boasts a 44.5% thermal efficiency, ahead of some Japanese rivals which boast a circa-40% thermal efficiency.

The engine, codenamed G4G15B, is paired to Chery’s self-developed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT150 in the Tiggo Cross), which combines two electric motors contribute 204 PS and 310 Nm. One motor is used for power generation, while the other drives the front wheels – powered by an on-board 1.83-kWh battery pack.

Said transmission functions like an electronic CVT (eCVT), as the electric motor is the primary source of propulsion. The petrol engine only kicks in at higher speeds (from 70 km/h onwards).
It’s also decently quick too – Chery mentioned that the Tiggo Cross CSH is able to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 9.6 seconds.

In terms of fuel consumption, the turbocharged Tiggo Cross returns 6.3L/100 km, while the Tiggo Cross CSH does 5.4L/100 km (test cycle unspecified). Coupled with the large 51-litre fuel tank, the Tiggo Cross CSH is claimed to offer a range of up to 1,000 km per tank.
