Set to be Malaysia’s most affordable electric vehicle (EV) when it launches this week, the 2025 Proton eMas 5 is perhaps yet another highly-anticipated EV from Proton.
With prices estimated to be between RM 60,000 to RM 80,000, the 2025 Proton eMas 5 will soon be Malaysia’s most affordable EV.

What is the 2025 Proton eMas 5?
The 2025 Proton eMas 5 is a B-segment EV hatchback. Mirroring what Proton did with the eMas 7 and Geely Galaxy EX5, the eMas 5 is a rebadged Geely Xingyuan. The latter is one of China’s best-selling EVs.

Similar to the eMas 7, the smaller 2025 Proton eMas 5 will also be offered across two variants, namely Prime and Premium.
Is the 2025 Proton eMas 5 powerful?
Proton will be offering the 2025 eMas 5 with two powertrain options:
- 2025 Proton eMas 5 Prime: 30.12-kWh LFP, 225 km, 85 kW (116 PS), 150 Nm, 125 km/h
- 2025 Proton eMas 5 Premium: 40.16-kWh LFP, 325 km, 85 kW (116 PS), 150 Nm, 135 km/h
DC fast charging at 71 kW from 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) takes just 21 minutes. AC charging goes up to 6.6 kW.
How big is the 2025 Proton eMas 5?
Being a B-segment hatchback, the 2025 Proton eMas 5 is 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm tall, and 1,580 mm wide, with a 2,650 mm long wheelbase. Ground clearance is rated at 160 mm.
There is also a 70-litre frunk and the boot space is rated at 375 litres, which can be expanded to 1,320 litres with the rear seats folded down.
