BYD Sime Motors is celebrating its third year as BYD’s official distributor in Malaysia, marking the milestone with more than 25,000 BYD vehicles now registered nationwide. The company says this number represents not just sales, but over 25,000 Malaysian families contributing to cleaner mobility.
According to BYD Sime Motors, its local EV fleet collectively helps reduce over 62,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year—an environmental benefit the company equates to planting nearly 2.5 million trees annually, enough to circle Malaysia’s coastline more than six times.
Seven EV Models and Expanding

BYD currently offers the country’s largest fully electric model range, with seven models introduced to date. The Atto 3 continues to be the brand’s best-selling model and a strong performer in the C-segment SUV market.

In 2025, the lineup expanded with the arrival of the BYD Atto 2, BYD Seal 6, and a refreshed BYD Seal, strengthening the brand’s offerings from entry-level to premium, and across sedan, SUV, and MPV segments. BYD says the variety allows it to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian buyers while maintaining a focus on technology, safety, and value.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, says the brand’s rapid growth reflects the momentum of EV adoption in Malaysia. “To now have more than 25,000 Malaysians as part of the BYD family is incredibly rewarding. Our commitment to a greener, smarter and safer driving experience has brought us here, and we’re deeply grateful for the trust Malaysians have placed in us,” he said.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, adds that BYD has become a key part of Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio in a short span of time. ““We have a strong foundation to drive EV adoption, supported by a robust sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities and skilled EV talent. Our vehicles have transformed Malaysia’s roads, making electric mobility more accessible and practical for everyone,” he said.
