At the heart of the 2026 Volvo ES90 is Volvo’s SPA2 platform and 800-volt electrical architecture. This new EV sedan supports up to 350 kW of DC fast charging, allowing drivers to change to 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in about 22 minutes, or gain 300 km of range with just a 10-minute charge.

The Malaysian-spec Volvo ES90 is expected to feature the same specification as the Thai-spec car, featuring a CATL-sourced 92-kWh (88-kWh usable) nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack, offering a 650 km WLTP range. The motor is mounted at the rear, producing 245 kW (333 PS) and 480 Nm.

Additionally, the ES90 is the first Volvo to feature the nVidia Drive AGX Orin computing system that builds the foundation for next-gen safety intelligence, AI integration, and data-driven optimisation.

Patricia Yaw, Sales & Marketing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia shares: “This year, as we mark 60 years since Volvo established its presence in Malaysia, it is especially meaningful to commemorate this milestone with the local assembly of the Volvo ES90, our first fully electric sedan. Built on six decades of experience, customer insight, and ongoing innovation, the ES90 reflects how far we have grown and evolved as a brand. Most importantly, it represents our lasting commitment to the Malaysian customers who have supported and inspired us over the years”.
