MG Motor Malaysia posts 57% sales growth in Q1 2026, CKD MG S5 EV to be exported

MG Motor Malaysia has recorded a 57% sales increase in Q1 2026 over Q4 2025, and a 39% year-on-year jump versus Q1 2025. The figures were shared recently at the brand’s 2nd Anniversary: Passion To Drive event.

The headline product milestone for the quarter was the MGS5 EV CKD Roll-Out Ceremony at EP Manufacturing Berhad’s facility in Melaka in March — marking MG’s first locally assembled (CKD) EV in Malaysia. The CKD MGS5 EV is currently priced at RM 116,900, with a special launch promotion worth up to RM 9,000.

On the recognition front, the MG Cyberster was awarded Performance Car of the Year by MARii during Q1 2026.

Internationally, MG unveiled the MG Hybrid+ and what it claims is the world’s first mass-produced semi-solid-state battery at MG Tech Day in Frankfurt.

Looking ahead, MG Motor Malaysia will participate in the upcoming 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (2026 KLIMS), where SAIC Motor Vice President of Global Design Jozef Kaban will also be present. Network expansion plans include new 3S centres in Kuantan and Rawang, adding to an existing aftersales footprint that includes up to 11 body and paint facilities nationwide.

Additionally, Emory Qi also revealed that CKD units of the MG S5 EV would be exported to left-hand drive (LHD) markets, specifically somewhere in South America.
