Proton bucks downward trend, sold 157,976 units in 2025, 3.3% higher than 2024

Proton has concluded 2025 with a total of 157,976 units sold, bucking the downward trend the market is currently experiencing.

Last month, Proton sold 14,655 units, thus bringing the total 2025 sales to 157,976 units. This marks an overall growth of 3.3% over 2024 and Proton’s market share is estimated to be at 19.4%, an increase of 0.7% in a year when Total Industry Volume (TIV) is estimated to have contracted by 0.2% to 814,949 units.

The growth in Proton’s sales figure was driven by a number of model launches, international expansion, and national initiatives.

Proton models continue to lead their segment

Several Proton models continue to dominate their respective segments, including:

Further Proton dealer network expansion and EV readiness

Proton has further expanded its dealer network to 187 Proton Edar outlets, which includes 27 new 3S/4S centres and Sales City Centres.

On the EV front, the Proton eMas network has quickly grown to become Malaysia’s largest dedicated EV dealer network, with 48 eMas dealerships, of which 36 are 3S centres, 12 1S centres, and 10 dedicated Body and Paint facilities.

But it’s not just expanding dealer network, as Proton is also expanding the national charging infrastructure with 44 eMas dealerships now fitted with DC fast charging stations.

Proton’s export ambitions continue to grow

Through the newly-formed Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB), Proton’s export volume has grown exponentially, marking a 26% growth over 2025 with 6,000 registrations YTD.
