Top-10 best-selling Chinese EVs in Malaysia in 2025: eMas 7 tops the charts, BYD bags the most

Over the weekend, JPJ released the updated sales data for the month of December, which allows us to take a look at the best-selling Chinese EVs last year.

In top spot in none other than the Proton eMas 7. Last month, Proton sold 937 units of the eMas 7, which not only was the best figure of the year, but also the best-selling Chinese EV for the whole of 2025, with 8,677 units sold.

Trailing in second place is the BYD Sealion 7 with 4,454 units sold in 2025. In December alone, BYD sold a total of 885 units of this EV SUV, also the best figure for the whole year.

Behind the BYD Sealion is the BYD Atto 3. As old as the Atto 3 may be, BYD still managed to sell 4,069 units of this C-segment EV SUV last year, with 500 units sold last month.

Despite being a relatively new entry, the BYD Atto 2 made it to this list as well. Last year, a total of 1,779 units of the Atto 2 found new homes. In December alone, 443 units were sold. Not bad for a model that was launched in July.

In fifth place is the BYD M6. Last year, 1,683 units of this EV MPV was sold, which is higher than some premium EVs that were launched in 2025. In December, 187 units found new homes.

2025 Zeekr 7X Malaysia launch

Sitting in sixth spot is the Zeekr 7X. Like a couple of these models, the Zeekr 7X is a newcomer, but that has not stopped 1,510 units from being sold. In December, 679 units of this EV SUV was sold.

The next BYD on this list is the BYD Seal 6. Like the Atto 2, the Seal 6 is a new model that went on sale in September, but has managed to shift 1,279 units in 2025. Last month, a total of 455 units were sold.

The last BYD on our list is the BYD Seal. This EV sedan sold 1,056 units throughout 2025, solidifying its spot on our top-10 list.

Surprise – sitting in ninth spot is another Zeekr model, the Zeekr 009. In 2025, a total of 914 units of the Zeekr 009 was sold, keeping it in our top-10 list.

In the tenth spot of our list is the Xpeng G6. Said model received a facelift in October, which was when sales picked up. Through 2025, Xpeng sold a total of 892 units of the G6 in Malaysia.
