Four new hybrids and 9,556 units sold: UMWT’s strong start to 2026

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) sold 4,856 units in February 2026, bringing its year-to-date (YTD) total to 9,556 units. The company attributes the performance to a broadened product lineup at the start of the year, underpinned by the expansion of its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) portfolio across multiple segments.

Four new hybrid models have been introduced across key segments. In the B-segment sedan space, the Vios Hybrid and Vios HEV GR Sport bring electrified options to one of the most accessible categories in the market. The facelifted Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport extends hybrid offerings into the C-segment SUV space. In the premium segments, the Vellfire HEV covers the luxury MPV category while the Harrier HEV strengthens UMWT’s D-segment SUV lineup.

Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, said, “In a market that is evolving rapidly, growth must be anchored on clarity of direction. Our Multi-Pathway approach ensures that customers are not confined to a single solution. By expanding hybrid options across sedan and SUV segments while continuing to strengthen our nationwide network, we are providing practical electrified choices supported by a reliable ownership ecosystem. Sustainable performance comes from aligning product strategy, network capability and customer expectations in a disciplined and consistent manner.”

Datuk Ravindran K. added, “As Hari Raya approaches, many Malaysians will be preparing for journeys that mark the close of one chapter and the beginning of another. Moments like this often remind us how important reliability and care are in everyday life. When vehicles perform consistently and are properly supported, drivers can focus on what lies ahead with greater assurance.”

On 9 February 2026, UMWT opened the Prima Pearl 4S Centre in Bayan Lepas, Penang. The facility combines sales, service, and body and paint operations under one roof, equipped with four display vehicles, two delivery bays, 10 general service bays, and 10 body and paint bays.

On the aftersales front, UMWT’s Toyota Service Savers programme offers routine maintenance from RM 31 per month, while Toyota Extend provides extended warranty coverage for selected models nationwide. For March, UMWT is offering financing packages on selected models with deals valued at up to RM 7,500 and monthly installments starting from RM 658.
