New car launches for 2026: Here’s what’s launching in Malaysia over the next 12 months

2026 is upon us, and it’s now time to take a look at what the next 12 months has in store for Malaysians. Our new car list for 2026 covers everything from entry-level brands all the way to premium marques.

Alfa Romeo

2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Kicking this list off is none other than the 2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia. Ever since the brand’s relaunch in Malaysia back in November 2025, Stellantis-supported DLSB Partners will be offering the Veloce trim of the Giulia.

At the heart of the Giulia Veloce is a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 280 PS and 400 Nm, mated to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. Power is directed to the rear wheels, with a Q2 limited-slip differential improving handling.

Bookings are now opened for the 2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia, with prices estimated to be in the RM 400,000 region.

2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Joining the Giulia is its SUV sibling, the 2026 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. While the Stelvio may be Alfa Romeo’s first attempt at an SUV, it is every bit an Alfa Romeo – the Stelvio still offers agility and handling, thanks to its Alfa Link suspension system, balance 50:50 weight distribution, and extensive use of lightweight materials.

Like the Giulia, the Stelvio will be offered in the Veloce trim with 280 PS and 400 Nm. Also shared with the Giulia is the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, though the Stelvio gets Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel drive system.

Alfa Romeo Malaysia will be announcing the official prices later this month. That said, bookings are opened with an estimated price of RM 400k.

BAIC

2026 BAIC X55

News surrounding the 2025 BAIC X55 have been around since 2024. This C-segment SUV is set to be locally-assembled (CKD) by the EP Manufacturing (EPMB) plant in Melaka, but nothing materialised throughout 2025.

It seems that things are looking up for BAIC, as EPMB issued a press release mentioning that pilot production of the 2026 BAIC X55 and BJ40 was completed successfully in November 2025. Full production of both models is scheduled to commence in January 2026.

The 2026 BAIC X55 is a C-segment SUV that is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 188 PS and 305 Nm, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Prices are estimated to start from RM 12x,xxx.

2026 BAIC BJ40 Plus

The second BAIC model in our list is the 2026 BAIC BJ40 Plus. Unlike the sleek-looking X55, the BJ40 is a blocky and boxy SUV, with inspirations drawn from iconic models such as the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota Land Cruiser.

Powering the 2026 BAIC BJ40 Plus is a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that outputs 224 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The sole transmission option is an eight-speed ZF automatic that sends power to a Borg Warner part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system.

Aimed at similar ladder frame-based models like the GWM Tank 300, the 2026 BAIC BJ40 Plus is said to have an estimated price of RM 188,xxx.

BMW

2026 BMW iX3 Neue Klasse

This is perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated models to come from Germany.

At the time of writing, the 2026 BMW iX3 Neue Klasse is the EV with the longest range, coming in at 805 km under the WLTP test cycle.

2026 BMW iX3 side view

That’s made possible due to its massive 108.7-kWh NMC battery pack. Said battery pack juices a dual-motor setup that does 469 PS and 645 Nm.

BMW Malaysia’s registration of interest (ROI) page is already live, indicating that the local launch could be happening sooner than expected.

BYD

2026 BYD Atto 3 Facelift

The long-standing BYD Atto 3 is expected to receive a much-needed facelift in 2026. China launched the facelifted Atto 3 back in March 2025, before receiving a larger battery and more powerful motor in November 2025.

Per Autohome, the updated Atto 3 gets a larger 74.88-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, powering a more potent front-mounted electric motor that does 230 kW (313 PS) and 360 Nm. Also new is an 800-volt electrical architecture that bumps the DC charging speed from 88 kW to 150 kW – beating the eMas 7.

These mechanical updates should help the Atto 3 continue to maintain its second spot on our monthly best-selling Chinese EV list. Right now, the Atto 3 is only second to the Proton eMas 7.

Chery

2026 Chery O5 facelift

Chery will be having a busy 2026, as we expect the Wuhu-based company to launch a number of new models this year.

One such model is the 2026 Chery O5 facelift, itself a second revision of the recently-launched 2025 Chery O5 facelift.

Here, the newer O5 facelift gets a more futuristic front fascia with swooping headlights flanking a completely overhauled front-end. The rear-end also gets remade with a swankier full-width LED tail light taking centre stage, with the rear number plate repositioned to the rear bumper.

No word on when the model will be introduced here, but knowing Chery Malaysia’s speed, it could be sooner than anticipated.

2026 Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV

The 2026 Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV is the company’s flagship model, one that encompasses all of Wuhu’s bells and whistles. As such, it gets the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, good for a combined output of 381 PS and 610 Nm.

It would be positioned above the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 when it arrives here within the first half of the year, and likely priced as such. That said, Chery has the D-segment SUV market cornered with the former, as well as Jaecoo J8 and Omoda C9.

Denza

2026 Denza Z9 GT

Set to be Denza’s second offering in Malaysia is the 2026 Denza Z9 GT, a sleek shooting brake EV. Said model was previewed here a couple of times, with the most recent being the 2025 PACE event at Setia Alam.

It remains to be seen what powertrain option that will find its way here, but over in China, this sleek shooting brake can be had either as a BEV or PHEV. The former offers a combined output of 710 kW (965 PS) and 1,150 Nm.

Thanks to its massive 100-kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, the Z9 GT is able to return up to 630 km under the CLTC test cycle.

Other highlights include rear-wheel steering that goes up to 15 degrees, allowing the sleek-looking Z9 GT to crab crawl into tight parking spots.

Dongfeng

2026 Dongfeng Vigo

Singapore-spec car shown

For most Malaysians, the Dongfeng marque may conjure up the image of trucks, or the Box EV. That’s quite far from the truth, as Dongfeng has a full range of ICE and BEVs in China.

And one such model is the 2026 Dongfeng Vigo, which is sold in China as the Dongfeng Nammi 06. It is a C-segment SUV that is aimed at the BYD Atto 3, MG S5 EV, and Proton eMas 7.

Dongfeng, via local distributor Central Auto Distributors (CADB), has yet to reveal the specifications surrounding the local-spec Vigo, only mentioning that the range would be up to 471 km under the lenient CLTC cycle.

The 2026 Dongfeng Vigo is already on sale in Singapore, with the sole variant powered by a 51.87-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, driving a front-mounted electric motor that does 99 kW (135 PS) and 230 Nm.

2026 Dongfeng 007

Singapore-spec car shown

No, this isn’t a certain famous British spy’s official car. The 2026 Dongfeng 007 is in fact a BYD Seal-rivalling sedan that CADB has in store for Malaysia later this year.

CADB has mentioned that they will be offering three variants of the Dongfeng 007 here, likely mirroring the same line-up as our neighbours down south. There, the 2026 Dongfeng 007 is available as Prestige, Premium, and Performance.

Singapore-spec car shown

Power output ranges from 99 kW (135 PS) to 200 kW (272 PS) and 310 Nm for the Premium and Prestige variants, while the Performance offers 400 kW (544 PS) and 620 Nm. Battery sizes range from 58.35-kWh in the Prestige to 73.48-kWh in the Premium and Performance variants.

Out of the trio, the Premium offers the most range, up to 650 km. The Performance does 565 km and the Prestige offers 550 km.

Ferrari

2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa

2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa front view

The revived Testarossa recently made its ASEAN debut in Thailand, hinting that this turbocharged V8 Prancing Horse is likely headed to Malaysia sometime this year.

At the core of the 2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa lies a heavily-revised 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 830 PS at 7,500 rpm and 842 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The 2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa gets three electric motors, which pushes the total system output to 1,050 PS.

According to Ferrari, the 2026 Ferrari 849 Testarossa’s 0-100 km/h sprint is rated at less than 2.3 seconds, while the 0-200 km/h sprint takes just 6.35 seconds. Top speed is more than 330 km/h.

2026 Ferrari Amalfi

This is Ferrari’s entry-level model that made its global debut back in July.

Like the more potent 849 Testarossa, the Amalfi also gets a twin-turbo V8, albeit delivering 640 PS at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm to 5,750 rpm.

Performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.3 seconds, while 0-200 km/h is achieved in 9 seconds flat. Top speed is rated at 320 km/h.

Forthing

2026 Forthing Friday

Forthing is a sub-brand of Dongfeng, and the 2026 Forthing Friday is likely going to be the model to kickstart the brand’s presence here in Malaysia.

The 2026 Forthing Friday is a C-segment SUV that can be had as a range extender EV (REEV) or a regular BEV. The former gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor that does 120 kW (163 PS) and 240 Nm. Being an REEV means that the petrol engine serves as an on-board charger for the 31.94-kWh LFP battery pack and it does not drive the wheels.

As for the BEV variant, it gets an electric motor that does 150 kW (204 PS) and 340 Nm, powered by a larger 64.4-kWh LFP battery pack.

In terms of range, the BEV is claimed to offer up to 400 km under the WLTP test cycle, while the REEV is said to offer more than 1,000 km per tank.

GAC

2026 GAC Aion V

The 2026 GAC Aion V made its public debut at the 2025 Malaysia Auto Show, which is set to challenge fellow C-segment EV SUVs like the BYD Atto 3 and ever-popular Proton eMas 7.

Power for the 2026 GAC Aion V comes from a front-mounted electric motor that does 150 kW (204 PS) and 240 Nm of torque, powered by a reasonably large 75.2-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) GAC Magazine battery pack.

Under the less stringent NEDC cycle, the GAC Aion V returns up to 602 km, and accepts up to 180 kW of DC fast charging. 30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) takes just 16 minutes.

2026 GAC Hyptec HT

Another model that GAC previewed alongside the Aion V at the Malaysia Auto Show was the GAC Hyptec HT. Taking a left out of the Tesla Model X’s playbook, the Hyptec HT gets a pair of gullwing doors that is definitely a party piece.

GAC Malaysia has yet to reveal any specifications surrounding our soon-to-be launched Hyptec HT, but our neighbours in Thailand and Indonesia both get a rear-mounted electric motor producing 250 kW (340 PS) and 430 Nm, powered by an 83.3 kWh battery pack. Under the NEDC test cycle, it delivers a claimed 620 km range.

GWM

2026 GWM Haval H6 Facelift

Perhaps one of GWM Malaysia’s best-selling models, the GWM Haval H6, is expected to be receiving a facelift within this year.

Our neighbours in Thailand already received the facelifted model in early-2025, which encompasses a revised and resized front grille, though the rear-end is largely identical to the outgoing model.

Changes to the Thai-spec car also include a blacked-out interior, something that GWM Malaysia introduced here back in August 2025.

2026 GWM Wey G9

2025 GWM Wey G9 preview front view

Previewed here in late-2025, the 2026 GWM Wey G9 is set to be amongst the first PHEV MPV that’s locally-assembled (CKD).

At the heart of the 2026 GWM Wey G9 is a petrol-electric hybrid system, comprised of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 150 PS and 240 Nm and two electric motors. Combined system output is 325 kW (442 PS) and 642 Nm.

The dual electric motors are juiced by a 44.2-kWh ternary lithium battery pack, which supports DC fast charging (30% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 26 minutes) and 6.6 kW AC charging (15% to 100% SoC in 6.5 hours).

No word on how much the GWM Wey G9 will be priced at for Malaysia, but the GAC M8, a similar PHEV MPV, is priced between RM 330k to RM 390k, though the M8 is imported (CBU).

Honda

2026 Honda Prelude

The sleek-looking Honda Prelude was first shown here at the 2024 KLIMS, followed by a social media teaser back in November 2025.

There’s a two-motor petrol-electric e:HEV hybrid powertrain. The petrol engine produces 141 PS and 182 Nm, while the electric motor outputs 184 PS and 315 Nm — figures identical to the Civic and CR-V e:HEV.

While it may not have the coveted Type R badge, the Prelude does feature the Type R’s trick Dual Axis front suspension, active damper system, variable gear-ratio steering, rigid drive shafts, and Brembo brakes.

For reference, the Honda Civic Type R FL5 is priced from RM 399,900 in Malaysia.

2026 Honda Super One

The 2026 Honda Super-One is a tiny electric city car based on the Honda N-One e: platform. It was recently spotted undergoing road tests in Melaka, suggesting potential local assembly. The vehicle is designed as a performance-oriented EV hatch with retro-inspired styling, featuring distinctive round LED headlights and a boxy silhouette.

The Super-One distinguishes itself with a “Boost Mode” that temporarily increases power output. This system is paired with an Active Sound Control and a simulated seven-speed transmission to replicate the tactile feedback and auditory experience of a traditional internal combustion engine.

Closer to home, this model was recently launched in Singapore, hinting at a possible region roll-out.

Hyundai

2026 Hyundai Stargazer

Hyundai Malaysia is expected to introduce the Stargazer MPV to the Malaysian market as an entry-level model.

This B-segment SUV gets a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine mated to a CVT which Hyundai calls IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).

Expect the Hyundai Stargazer to square up against rivals such as the Toyota Veloz and Mitsubishi Xpander when it launches here.

Isuzu

2026 Isuzu D-Max MaxForce 2.2

New year, new engine. Isuzu Malaysia is expected to introduce the updated 2026 Isuzu D-Max with the new 2.2L Ddi MaxForce engine. Considering that our D-Max units are imported (CBU) from Thailand, it’s a matter of “when”, rather than “if”.

Set to replace the fuel-sipping 1.9-liutre unit, the 2.2L Ddi MaxForce churns out 163 PS and 400 Nm – a gain of 13 PS and 50 Nm compared to the older 1.9-litre diesel unit.

Power increase aside, despite the increase in engine capacity, Isuzu says that the new engine is about 10.7% more fuel efficient than the 1.9-litre unit.

Apart from the change in engine, we don’t expect any visual changes to the Malaysian-spec D-Max when it arrives here later this year.

Omoda | Jaecoo

2026 Jaecoo J5

The Jaecoo J5 is a B-segment SUV designed to sit below the current J7. It takes the design elements of the J7 and condenses it into a smaller package.

The J5 is expected to feature the same 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that’s shared with the larger J7, producing 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque.

While markets like Thailand get the J5 as a BEV, we expect the model to be offered purely as a regular turbocharged variant. It remains to be seen if the BEV variant finds its way here.

2026 Omoda C9 PHEV

The Omoda C9, also known as the Exeed RX in other markets, will receive a PHEV variant in 2026. This model utilizes a 1.5-litre turbo engine paired with dual electric motors and a 3-speed DHT gearbox, much like the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV.

Total system output is said to be 605 PS and 915 Nm, which can allow the C9 PHEV to offer a range of more than 1,000 km per tank.

The C9 is notable for its premium positioning, featuring CDC (Continuous Damping Control) suspension and a luxurious interior inspired by high-end European SUVs.

2026 Omoda C7

Slotting between the Omoda 5 and Omoda 9, the C-segment 2026 Omoda C7 is the sibling to the Jaecoo J7, but without the boxy design elements.

As such, it should be sharing the same turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol mill as the J7, producing 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque.

Between the boxy Jaecoo J7 and this curvy Omoda C7, which is your pick?

2026 Omoda 4

2026 Omoda 4 side view

This is a brand-new model that made its global debut in early-2025. This B-segment SUV adopts what Chery calls the ‘Cyber Mecha’ design language. Fancy name aside, the exterior of the Omoda 4 is devoid of any curves; its sharp and angular, from bumper-to-bumper.

Power is expected to be derived from the same turbocharged 1.5-litre mill that’s currently powering the Tiggo Cross and O5 facelift. The latter makes 156 PS and 230 Nm.

The sole powertrain option for the 2026 Mazda CX-5 is likely going to be a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre petrol unit, mated to a 24-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system.

That said, the outgoing KF-generation Mazda CX-5 will be sold alongside the new-generation model, though only in 2.0-litre form.

In markets like Japan and Thailand, the Serena is offered with Nissan’s e-Power hybrid system, which uses a petrol engine solely as a generator while an electric motor drives the wheels. This setup delivers smoother acceleration and improved fuel efficiency without the need for external charging.

Positioned as a family-oriented MPV, the Serena will continue to rival models like the Toyota Voxy and Honda StepWGN, though with the added benefit of a new car warranty.

Perodua

Perodua D01D

Likely developed on the DNGA platform like the Ativa, Traz, Axia, and Alza, the next-generation Myvi should be well equipped, given Perodua’s track record with their local debuts.

Said D01D could also spawn a Toyota version in the form of the next-generation, DNGA-based Toyota Yaris.

Built on a dedicated EV platform, the Cayenne EV is expected to deliver performance figures worthy of the Porsche badge, while offering long-range capability and ultra-fast charging.

This system uses a compact electric motor to enhance throttle response and power delivery, rather than prioritising electric-only driving. The result is improved performance while retaining the character that defines the 911.

Expect this to sit above the standard Carrera models, appealing to purists who want performance gains without sacrificing engagement.

Subaru

2026 Subaru Crosstrek

The Subaru Crosstrek is expected to make its debut in Malaysia later this year, replacing the long-standing Subaru XV. The Crosstrek nameplate has already debuted in Indonesia a couple of months ago.

Power is likely to come from a naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system, prioritising stability and all-weather capability over outright performance.

It will appeal to buyers seeking something more outdoorsy than the typical upper-B-segment SUV.

Toyota

2026 Toyota Vios Hybrid

Toyota’s answer to the ever-popular Honda City e:HEV is one more step towards fruition, as estimated prices and preliminary specifications are already out.

With its petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, the Vios Hybrid is able to match the City e:HEV’s fuel efficiency numbers, though real-world figures are yet to be seen.

Unlike the single-variant City e:HEV, UMWT will be offering two variants of the Vios Hybrid, including a GR-Sport variant.
